There could be several reasons for this, but I think I have formed an idea (without any foundation) as to why the aforementioned authors have never spoken much and openly about their project.

The biggest difficulty I found in writing this analysis lies in the almost total absence of interviews and statements on Texhnolyze by its authors Ueda/Konaka/ABe. Texhnolyze takes the audience into an Wellsian dystopia in which hope is scarce and evil is unbound. Together, they soon realize that Lux is on the brink of war and collapse, and that they may be the only ones who can save The city. He soon meets a mysterious young girl, Ran, who has the power to see possible futures. With these powerful new limbs at his disposal, Ichise begins to work for Oonishi, the leader of Organo. Before death can take him, Ichise is found by the scientist Eriko Kamata, who uses him as a test subject for her newly designed Texhnolyze. One day, a fight promoter grows angry with him and the altercation that follows results in Ichise losing an arm and a leg. Ichise was once an orphan who has made a place for himself in Lux as a prize fighter. Three major factions battle to control Lux: Organo, a group of “professionals” who collaborate with the criminal underworld that controls Texhnolyze (prosthetics) the Salvation Union, a populist group that seeks to disrupt Organo’s business and Racan, a collection of young individuals with Texhnolyzes that use their abilities for personal gain. Citizens of Lux have come to refer to their home as simply “The City” and treat it as though it has a mind and will of its own.

Texhnolyze takes place in the city of Lux, a man-made underground city that has crumbled after years of neglect and lack of repairs. 5.2 – Melancholy and the infinite dissatisfaction.

  • 4.4 – Eriko Kamata (Doc) / Tatsuya Sakimura.
  • 4 – Dualism: among Übermensch, Messiah, samurai and dreamers.
  • 3 – The Class : the artificiality of religion.
  • 2 – Constitutive factions : Organ, Union, Racan, Gabe.
  • Given the complexity of the work, analysing the different themes dealt with by the authors inevitably led me to take a long time in writing the article, which is why I decided to add an index to make it easier to read. This choice, however, turned out to be a double-edged sword, as the quotations made by Konaka range from Japanese to Western culture, more or less famous, which not everyone can grasp while watching the work. In contrast to SEL, Konaka‘s narrative evolves in Texhnolyze the author no longer obliges the viewer to decipher his thoughts directly, instead he tries to make the interpretation of the anime less complex through the use of quotations and rather sharp references. Konaka wrote the story, characters and plot, always accompanied by the pencil of Yoshitoshi ABe. from an original idea (a concept) by Yasuyuki Ueda, the starting point from which Chiaki J. Texhnolyze (テクノライズ, Tekunoraizu) is conceived in the same way as SEL, i.e. Since I found some extremely interesting insights, I decided to revise some parts of this article, and especially to add new and previously unaddressed information.
